MediaLen.tv works on nearly anything with a screen and an internet connection, but not every device delivers the same experience. Here's how to choose the right one for how you actually watch.
What to look for in a streaming device
Before comparing specific device types, it helps to know which specs actually matter.
- Processing power — smoother menus and faster app switching
- Storage — enough room for the app and its cache without slowdowns
- Wi-Fi standard — newer Wi-Fi standards handle 4K streams more reliably
- Remote and interface — a responsive remote makes a bigger difference than most people expect
Wired beats wireless when possible
Whatever device you choose, a wired Ethernet connection (directly or through an adapter) will almost always outperform Wi-Fi for 4K streaming and live sports, where a stable connection matters more than raw speed.
Streaming boxes and sticks
Dedicated streaming boxes remain the simplest way to add MediaLen.tv to any TV, regardless of how old the television is.
Compact streaming sticks
Small, plug-in sticks are inexpensive and easy to set up, making them a good fit for a secondary bedroom or guest room TV. They're less powerful than a full box, which can occasionally show up as slower app loading times.
Dedicated streaming boxes
Streaming boxes cost a bit more but generally include faster processors, more storage, and Ethernet ports built in — worth it for a primary living room setup where you'll be watching the most.
Smart TVs
Modern Samsung and LG smart TVs can run MediaLen Player directly, with no extra hardware required.
Samsung Smart Hub
Samsung's Smart Hub app store supports MediaLen Player on recent TV models. Performance is generally solid, though very old models may run the app more slowly than a dedicated streaming box would.
LG Content Store
LG's webOS platform has a similar experience through the LG Content Store, with fast menu navigation on recent models.
Phones and tablets
Phones and tablets are the most convenient option for watching on the go, and they count toward your plan's device limit the same way a TV app does.
Screen mirroring and casting
Most phones and tablets can cast or mirror MediaLen Player to a TV, which is a handy fallback if your TV doesn't support the app directly.
Our recommendation
For a primary TV, a dedicated streaming box with Ethernet support tends to give the smoothest experience, especially for 4K and live sports. For secondary rooms, a compact streaming stick or your smart TV's built-in app store is usually enough. Round it out with the mobile app for watching away from the TV.
